Reason #2: The Blankie - 11/01/25

For the last couple of years, I've been in and out of knitting as a hobby - but 2025 has been a big fiber arts year for me. When I very first started knitting during the pandemic, I went hard right away. I found a pattern for an entire stuffed rabbit, using all kinds of interesting techniques AND knitted in the round to boot! Suffice to say, this bunny was never completed and I took a long break from knitting after I got frustrated with it.

2025 has been a lot more successful though! I've completed some very small flat projects to get the hang of the basics. And now, I'm currently working on my first big project: the Vintage Chevron blanket by Purl Soho. It's been a great project! Flat, consistent all the through, occasionally uses some interesting techniques like the Central Double Increase, and it's cute!! Whenever I'm between tasks or getting ready for bed, I take a lot of joy in being able to get a few rows done.

I haven't been taking pictures throughout the process (maybe I should be...) but here's how it stands as of today!

It hasn't been perfect. I found out recently that I've been doing CDI's incorrectly basically this whole time, so I'm hoping that hasn't irreparably destroyed the shape. But overall, I'm really happy and proud of what I have so far! It's taken me about ~6 months (with breaks in between) to finish the first stripe, so here's hoping I can go a little faster moving forward. Staying consistent with this project will be good for me.
