Reason #5: The Free-for-All - 11/04/25
There's a post on Tumblr about Tubi that me and my roommate reference a lot. I can't find the exact post, but to paraphrase: "It must be so awesome to work at Tubi. I bet they let you smoke cigarettes in the office".
Tubi's advertiser first model has allowed it to become a goldmine for obscure, underrated, low budget media created all around the world and from basically any time period. If you made a movie on your phone tomorrow, it could be on Tubi by 11am the next day. Should you ever learn about an interesting movie you'd like to stream and it's only available on Tubi, Pluto TV, Freevee, or Poob, you know already it's about to be absolutely insane. I highly recommend going to Tubi, typing in any kind of keyword you like (I often default to "vampire") and explore their beautiful collection. And please do this as much as possible! Tubi sometimes has the license for a film or tv show for days at a time, their collection is constantly changing.
I've seen a lot of great and awful movies on Tubi, but I've lately been using it to stream Jane Austen television adaptations made by the BBC in the 2000s. Sense and Sensibility (2008) was fantastic and Emma (2009) was masterfully done - and both are completely free!
It's good to take a chance on media you've never heard of before. I love finding these new-to-me treasures on sites like Tubi and love showing them to my friends! Please tell me all about the treasures you've found...and maybe one day, I'll tell you about my secret weapon...the best low budget gay vampire movie ever made...
